Sistani Cattle Research Group

Introduction

This research group strives to be a pioneer in the field of animal husbandry in the province and the country as a knowledge and technology production base, and is currently focusing its research activities on Sistani cattle, Baluchi sheep, shaggy goats, and camels in the fields of nutrition, breeding, behavior, health, and management.

Basic approaches of the Sistani Cattle Research Group (ruminants)

  • Formulating strategies for the development of livestock farming in the region
  • Determining nutritional requirements during different growth periods (energy, protein and other nutrients)
  • Using the region's food potential to feed livestock
  • Using new food sources in animal nutrition
  • Determining the production potential of livestock breeds (milk, meat, fluff and wool)
  • Determining the growth curve in native animals
  • Genetic evaluation and correlation of environmental factors in production rate
  • Planning and implementing a breeding and crossbreeding program
  • Estimation of repeatability and heritability of traits
  • Using sperm freezing and artificial insemination techniques in native livestock
  • Behaviorism
  • Identifying pathogens and health sensitivities
  • Introducing the potential of livestock to villagers to help achieve sustainable development in the village
  • Reducing production costs and making livestock farming more economical in industrial and rural conditions
  • Localizing modern animal husbandry knowledge
  • Training and transfer of findings to livestock farmers in the region
  • Introducing the talents of native livestock as valuable genetic reserves of the country
